Comprises 4 autograph letters from Samuel Holdsworth to Jabez Hogg dated 11 July 1859, 18 August 1861, 24 April 1869, and 2 November 1885 (with transcripts), and 1 autobiographical retrospect by Dr Holdsworth, including a portrait photograph of himself, extracted from the 'Medical Pioneer: the organ of the British Medical Temperance Association', Vol. 3, no. 10, for July 1895, the first page of which has been annotated in manuscript at the foot with the words 'died July 1896'.
